Gerard Pique warns Barcelona about bringing Lionel Messi back to Camp Nou

Gerard Pique, a former Barcelona player, has voiced his opinion over the team’s attempts to bring Lionel Messi back to Catalonia.

If he decides to leave Paris Saint-Germain, La Blaugrana have been strongly connected with a free transfer move for their former star at the conclusion of 2022–23.

While Barcelona considers their next move, discussions to activate Messi’s 12-month extension to his current Paris deal, which ends in June, have stagnated.

Messi and his agents are in negotiations with Barcelona, according to club vice president Rafa Yuste, despite the challenges presented by a prospective offer for the star player owing to Barcelona’s financial troubles.

Pique chose caution in light of the unfolding situation, however, since Barcelona will still have to overcome a number of challenges if it hopes to re-sign Messi in 2023.

“I know Rafa Yuste and how he is. He’s a very good person and he will always tell you what you want to hear”, as per reports from Mundo Deportivo.

“He’s a great person, and he is going to choose the right words to say what you like to hear.

“Obviously for all the ‘cules’ it would be incredible if Leo came back, but there comes a point where forcing situations too much, can be counterproductive.”
