CHE 0-2 AST: Three Chelsea Players Who Performed Well Despite Their Loss To Aston Villa

Aston Villa beat Chelsea 2-0 in a mid-table table to pile the pressure on Graham Potter and see his side drop down to a dismal 11th place. Ollie Watkins and John McGinn scored at Stamford Bridge in a match that makes European football next season even less likely for the Blues and raises the possibility that the club could register its lowest finish in the Premier League era.

Here are the three Chelsea players who performed well despite their loss to Aston Villa

Ben Chilwell

Playing as the left wing back, seemed to be brought down and was adamant that he was fouled, asking for a penalty. The Englishman struck the outside of the post as he was getting into dangerous positions and testing out John McGinn. Chilwell was probably the brightest Chelsea player, making forward runs and getting into dangerous areas.

N’Golo Kante

Little could be expected of the Frenchman with Chelsea 2-0 down but the introduction of the Frenchman brought respite from frustration and some cheers as he entered the field for the first time under Graham Potter. The midfielder had a great opportunity to score but could only drag his shot wide. Took the captain’s armband from Kovacic late in the second period. Good signs that he could be everywhere once again

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

A consistent presence down the right flank as Chelsea looked to exploit the wings and was steady during his time on the pitch.
