Vini Jr rejects offer to wear no.7 at Real Madrid, his preference revealed

According to ESPN, Real Madrid have offered Vinicius Junior the chance to wear the iconic no.7 starting with the next season but the winger rejected it.

Meanwhile, Bernabeu Digital report the 22-year-old would actually prefer the no.11 jersey which could become vacant in the case of Marco Asensio’s departure at the end of the season.

The no.11 does seem to be Vini’s preference as he wore it at Real Madrid Castilla and in the most recent game for Brazil. What’s more, he wanted to take over the shirt number when Gareth Baleleft but had to settle for no.20.

The no.7 jersey has a long history at Real Madrid as legends like Butragueno, Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo wore it. Since the Portuguese’s departure, the likes of Mariano and Eden Hazardsported it, but they are clearly not at the same level.
