According to a news that was published by The Nigerian Tribune Newspaper Online this morning, it was reported that as President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration winds down, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, during an interview with Tribune’s correspondent, has revealed the most senior rank between his position and that of Femi Adesina.
When he was talking during the interview about his relationship with that of Femi Adesina, who happens to be the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Shehu said he doesn’t want to discuss much on that but, himself and Femi Adesina, have come a long way, even before they were in office, they had been friends, they had met, even at family levels, they had interacted.
He said, “So, from day one, we made it clear to one another that this job will not divide us, it will not destroy that relationship we built over a long time. So, my own attitude to it, then, had been, because by the pecking order, the Special Adviser to the President (, Femi Adesina) is above the Senior Special Assistant (Garba Shehu). So, I yield the forecourt to him, I yield the foreground to him and whatever he decides that he wants to do, I don’t stand in the way. Whatever he leaves undone, or whatever the President or Presidency asks me to do, then I will do. So, in this way, we have avoided conflict completely.”
Further talking, he said he remembered when they were about to start, the ex-Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi, called the two of them to his suite in Hilton and he was concerned that, there will be fighting between the two of them in doing the job but, he (Garba Shehu) said no, they won’t fight.
He said, “We are friends, we have come a long way and today, here we are. That is the way it is.”
