MUN 3 VS 1 FUL: Talking points as controversial VAR and referee decision favours Manchester United

Erik ten Hag and his men locked horns with Fulham in the quarter-final of the FA Cup competition. The last time both teams met, the match ended in a 2-1 win in favor of the Red Devils. The home side lined up in a 4-3-3 formation while Fulham started the game in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Talking points in the match are:

1. CASEMIRO’S ABSENCE

The Brazilian International footballer received a red card in Manchester United’s last match and was handed a 4-match ban.

The game against Fulham is one of the games which he was expected to miss. His presence was heavily missed in today’s game as Manchester United’s midfield was completely outclassed in the first half.

2. DE GEA’S PERFORMANCE

The Spanish International goalkeeper has been an important player for Manchester United over the years.

He continued his dazzling performance today as he made a couple of saves to deny Fulham more goals in the game.

3. CONTROVERSIAL VAR AND REFEREE DECISION FAVORS MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United was given a penalty in the 72nd minute after a handball incident involving Willian but the penalty should not have stood as the former Chelsea and Arsenal man had his hand close to his body. Fulham had two players sent off which gave Manchester United an advantage over them.
