Prior to the team’s friendlies against Belgium and Peru, Germany coach Hansi Flick has elected to start fresh.

The team that will represent Germany in friendlies against Peru and Belgium during the international break has been announced by manager Hansi Flick, who has left out a number of well-known players.

Flick rejects the idea of veteran players.

Flick declared that it was time for a new German team before the 2024 European Championships after Germany was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage, and it appears that he is keeping his word after making a number of changes to the most recent Germany team.

There was no place for Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane on the team, while his club teammate Thomas Muller was only good enough for the supplementary list.

There were also changes in defence as regulars Niklas Sule, Antonio Rudiger, and Jonas Hofmann were left out of the squad.

Flick hands call-ups to Brentford and Dortmund youngsters

Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan was also left out of the team on compassionate grounds after recently becoming a father, while Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has been ruled out through injury.

With many veterans of the German National Team set to sit out the friendlies, Flick has taken the chance to bring in some fresh faces and has called up Dortmund’s Marius Wolf as well as Augsburg’s Mergim Berisha and Brentford’s Kevin Schade who could make their debuts for the national team.

Flick has also handed first call-ups to Josha Vagnoman and Felix Nmecha.
