According to a news that was published by the Daily Trust Newspaper online this morning, it was reported that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, during an interview with Daily Trust’s correspondent, spoke on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election, that was held three weeks ago in the country.
Recall that during the election, the All Progressives Congress, lost in some of his stronghold like Yobe State, Katsina State, Lagos State and so on and while Adamu was talking on this, he said, how do they explain Governor Nasir El-Rufai, losing Kaduna State to Peoples Democratic Party ? Himself as the National Chairman of the party, losing to the candidate of the Labour Party in Nasarawa State.
He said, “Even the president-elect, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, lost the presidential election in Lagos State that he ruled for eight years, and who has been the centrepiece of Lagos politics. I did not lose election alone, El-Rufai, Tinubu also lost but, we did not cry. How do you explain our losing Gombe or Yobe, whose governor is my predecessor in APC ?”
Further talking, he said there were so many things that happened during the last election and it was not easy to explain why they happened but notwithstanding, these losses, they did not cry.
He said, “I did not cry, Tinubu did not cry, so also El-Rufai did not cry. Though it hurts politically, we have the large hearts to bear this kind of setback in our politics.”
