Dino Melaye Finally Reacts To Ifeanyi Okowa’s Failure To Win Delta In The Presidential Election

According to a report by Punch Newspaper, Dino Melaye, a senator from the eighth national assembly and a spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, responded in an interview with a Punch correspondent after Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the running mate of Atiku under The People’s Democratic Party, failed to win his state for the party.

In the course of the interview, Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State and the PDP’s vice presidential candidate, revealed that he still believed that the PDP had triumphed in the presidential contest but that the Labour Party had won his state. Dino Melaye responded by asserting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) rigged the state’s election in the Labour Party’s favour.

“What happened in Delta State is a direct result of INEC’s extensive, well-thought-out rigging,” he declared. I will admit that PDP votes were suppressed in Delta State, even though I do not deny that the Labour Party had some influence there”.

When asked how realistic that is given that the party’s vice presidential candidate is an active governor, Dino replied that Okowa can only show capacity if INEC is impartial.

The governor in office can only demonstrate his abilities if INEC is impartial; if INEC is corrupt, there is nothing the governor can do. We contend that the election should be canceled because there was consensus on all fronts.
