
The world football governing body popularly known as FIFA has named Argentina national team captain Lionel Andres Messi as the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the year, following his outstanding performance for his country in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Lionel Messi was exceptional for Argentina national team and his excellent performance for the team helped them to lift the trophy.
Lionel Messi was shortlisted for the final of FIFA Best Men’s Player of the year award alongside France duo Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe, but he eventually beat other nominees to win the prestigious award.
Lionel Messi was voted the best player after he gathered the total number of 52 points, and that’s 8 points ahead of his teammate Kylian Mbappe who got 44 points.
