How I Found My 12-Year-Old Daughter Dead During School Inter-House Sports — Mother Cries Out

Mrs Blessing Adeniran, the mother of a 12-year-old Chrisland International School student, Opebi branch, has taken to social media to cry out over the death of his daughter, Whitney Adeniran, who allegedly died during the school’s inter-house sports activities.

In the video on her Instagram page on Sunday, the tearful mother noted that her child slumped during the event at Agege Stadium and she was not informed before the school took Whitney to a hospital.

On getting to the hospital, Mrs Adeniran stated that she met her daughter dead with her lips and tongue turned black.

She also noted that her daughter was not taken to a hospital but to an immunisation centre.

The distraught mother opined that Whitney was not sick, neither did she have any underlying illness but the doctor at the health centre said that her child may have suffered cardiac arrest.

She further demanded that the school comes clean on what happened to her daughter so she can bury the child in peace.

The news headline has generated mixed reactions among the Facebook users. Kindly read some of the reactions from Nigerians that commented below the news on Facebook:

Hmm! This is so painful and disheartening to bear for a mother. You sent your child to school and next she didn’t come back home, she’s dead. She might have been forced to do too much than what she’s used to do before, but the school should have taken her to hospital and not immunisation centre. The school also have questions to answer, why didn’t they notify the parents, even though no parents want to hear such news at that time but still it’s important for them at that particular time not when she’s dead. May her gentle soul rest in peace and may The Lord grant the parents the fortitude to bear this great loss.

This may happen due to many reasons, some children and adults are not exposed to rigorous exercise, and when they go through it it will have a great effects on their health, exercises is not for everyone, the school should have sent a letter to every parents and guidance for consent to participate, this may be effect of lack of exercises,in government schools such occurrence is very very minimal because most pupils there are exposed to time to time exercise and almost all the children trek few meters daily to school. May God console the affected family. It’s painful, take heart ma’am.

Exercise no be joke,it not something one can just start without knowing the limit they can go…I almost lost my breath in one of my weightloss workout, something whispered to me to rest and that was when I knew I was over stretching it cus I couldn’t catch my breath immediately I sat to rest and I was alone,it was after some few minutes I started feeling my breath back.after that day,I dare not try going beyond my limit.
