President Buhari Gives 3 reasons why he joined Tinubu’s campaign train

President Muhammadu Buhari visited Sokoto on Thursday and paid a courtesy call to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, accompanied by the APC Presidential campaign team. During the visit, President Buhari spoke about why he joined the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Presidential campaign and made an appeal to the Sultan to support Tinubu.

President Buhari explained that he and Tinubu have been friends for the past 20 years and that Tinubu performed excellently during his time as the Governor of Lagos State. He also noted that Tinubu won the APC presidential primary through a free, fair, and credible process, making him the legitimate candidate of the party. President Buhari expressed his belief that with Tinubu, Nigeria will be in safe hands.

Tinubu, the APC Presidential candidate, stated that he was in the race to win and introduced himself to the Sultan as the presidential candidate of the APC. He expressed gratitude for the enthusiasm of the people and the peace and coexistence in Sokoto, and sought the Sultan’s blessing and endorsement for his campaign.

In response, the Sultan of Sokoto expressed his disgust with those who curse and abuse leaders. He noted that cursing leaders is equivalent to cursing the country and the system, and that it only complicates matters for the country. He emphasized the importance of praying for leaders and noted that the more one prays, the more God may help leaders to perform better for the benefit of all. The Sultan also spoke about his own prayers for President Buhari and noted that he would continue to pray for him even after he leaves office.

The Sultan noted that as a traditional ruler, he cannot openly take sides in the political contest, but his concern is for peace, security, stability, and development in the country. He stated that he believes God already knows who the leader the country needs and that his role is to pray for the country to have the best president who will bring peace, security, and a good standard of living for the people of Nigeria.
