Dduring an interview with the Arise News, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, while reacting to the current crisis of the Naira and fuel scarcity, which has staged a violent protest in Ibadan, explained that he was supposed to fly in an helicopter to Ibadan, Oyo State, yesterday for a rally but he couldn’t get fuel. However, when he eventually got fuel, the protest going on in the state made him retract and postpone the meeting he was going for.
Recall that, on Friday, the residents of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, took to the streets to protest over the scarcity of new naira notes and fuel, which has been a subject of discussion across major towns and cities in Nigeria.
According to Obi, “I was supposed to go to Ibadan with the service of a helicopter, but I was told we had an issue with fuel, and by the time they resolved it, it was about 1:00 o’clock, so we left. Unfortunately for me, where I arrived in Ibadan, I couldn’t see the necessary security to escort me to where I was going, so I said let’s be going back after all; I don’t even know the address of where I’m going. “It was really difficult.”
Meanwhile, he apologized to the people for their disappointment and stated that he would fix a new date to hold the meeting.
