Erik ten Hag reaction to Casemiro’s suspension

🗣️ | Erik ten Hag has reacted to Casemiro’s suspension: “It was instinctive, he went for the ball, missed it and it was a dangerous situation. He wanted to stop it and that was his reaction.” [@shamoonhafez]

💭 | Casemiro’s suspension is a huge blow ahead of the Arsenal game. Was his challenge unnecessary? Maybe. It was an overzealous lunge. But at the same time, it was legacy of having to get out of a dangerous situation caused by United losing possession in a sloppy manner. As Ten Hag says, it was instinctive.

➕ | There is an argument that Ten Hag could have taken Casemiro off, but his solidity was crucial to United holding a resilient Crystal Palace side at bay. Withdrawing him would have caused the ceding of some of this defensive control. On the whole, his ball-winning was highly important, and he broke up possession very well. He will be a massive miss against Arsenal. But, as Ten Hag pointed out in his interview with Sky Sports, he didn’t feature as United beat Mikel Arteta’s side at Old Trafford… #mufc #manutd
