With no fewer than 24 games played so far at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup, below are the current group statistics of the tournament;
1- Top scorers
France star Kylian Mbappe and Enner Valencia of Ecuador lead the scoring chart with three goals apiece so far.
2- Top assists providers
Theo Hernandez picked up his second assist in two games for France at the 2022 World Cup to give him the joint most assists in the tournament with Portuguese player Bruno Fernandes, who has played one game fewer.
3- Qualified teams
As it stands, France are the only team to book their place in the round of 16 following their 2-1 win over Denmark. They are also the first defending Champions since Brazil 2006 to qualify from the group stage of the World Cup. Didier Deschamps men currently sit top of Group D with six points and are the only team with a perfect record so far in the tournament.
4- Eliminated teams (Qatar)
Host country Qatar are the first and only team so far to be eliminated from the 2022 World Cup following back to back defeats in their group. The Middle East side will only be playing for pride when they take on Netherlands in their final group game.
5- Clean Sheets
Only Poland have managed to keep a clean sheet after playing two games. Other teams with clean sheets after their first opening games are Belgium, Croatia, Morocco, Switzerland, Brazil, Uruguay, Spain and South Korea.
Others teams that would qualify with a win in their second game irrespective of results elsewhere are Portugal and Belgium. But Spain, Japan, Brazil, and Switzerland can also qualify if results go their way.
