History was made today, November 22, 2022, as President Muhammadu Buhari flagged off oil drilling in the northeastern part of Nigeria.

The Oil Prospecting Leases (OPL) 809 and 810 at the Kolmani oil field sites are located in Bauchi and Gombe States.
According to reports, Kolmani Integrated Development Project Phase I will entail an in-situ oil refinery with a capacity of up to 120k barrels per day, a gas processing plant with a capacity of up to 500 million standard cubic feet per day, a power plant with a capacity of up to 300MW, and a fertiliser plant with a capacity of 2,500 tonnes per day.
The flag-off ceremony was witnessed by prominent Nigerians, including the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and others.
The presidential aide posted the sample of the crude oil on his verified Twitter handle.
