2 Worst And 2 Best Players In Nigeria 4-0 Lost To Portugal

Two goals in each of the halves were enough for Portugal to defeat the Super Eagles in a friendly match played on Thursday night. It took Portugal just nine minutes to put the ball into Nigeria’s net as Bruno Fernandes scored. The Manchester United midfielder scored his second goal in the match via a penalty.

Though Emmanuel Dennis was brought in the second half his performance was woeful. He could not handle the ball brilliantly and failed to show that he is a professional footballer. The worst of it was his inability to capitalize on a great opportunity Nigeria had as he failed to score a penalty after Bright Osayi Samuel was fouled by Dalot in the penalty area.

Moses Simon played seventy-six (76) minutes but his impact was not felt throughout the game. He runs aimlessly with the ball and lacks dribbling skills. He is a one-way player whose creativity and skillfulness when with the ball are poor.

No doubt, Bright Osayi Samuel was one of the best players on the field. His marking ability is top-notch with a great level of speed. Indeed, the right-back deserves to be in the team first eleven. He won the penalty that Emmanuel Dennis missed.

The Super Eagles’ performance changed the moment Samuel Chukwueze was brought in. He brought live to the Nigeria’s attacking line. Portugal’s defence struggled to handle him as he became a threat to the defence.
