It’s been almost four days since Gerard Piquecame out to announce his retirement from football. Encomiums followed the announcement with superstars around the world hailing the Spaniard as a true legend of the game.
But Lionel Messi has conspicuously kept mum on social media over Pique’s retirement – let’s not forget they were teammates for nearly a decade.
According to L’Equipe, Messi’s entourage asked the legend to post a social media message for Pique after the defender announced his retirement but Leo refused.
Here’s what fans are saying on Twitter about the matter:
OGi: “Messi ain’t posted anything on insta about Pique’s retirement yet? That’s my goat.”
Football FC: “Iniesta haven’t posted one thing on Pique’s retirement. Luis Suarez hasn’t posted anything. But Messi is the one getting trolled.
Sami: “Messi gave a farewell to Arturo Vidal but didn’t post a single thing about Pique. He doesn’t rate Pique. No worries Messi always knew Ramos is miles ahead of Pique. Now he’s playing with Ramos he’ll write a long essay for Goatmos when he retires.”
Messi could still post a message for the veteran defender, or he may have done it already in private.
However, it’s taken too long already and eyebrows are raised.
