Both Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski won prizes at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday night, with the Real Madrid man winning the 2022 Ballon d’Or trophy and the Barcelona striker taking the Gerd Muller Prize.
There were many anecdotes from the gala, including a discussion about the two players’ watches, as social media users noticed that they had very different wristwear.
Benzema’s watch: The most complicated in the world
In the case of Benzema, he turned up wearing a Richard Mille RM 65-01, the watch that is considered to be the brand’s most complicated.
“The culmination of some five years of development, this automatic split-seconds chronograph is the most complex timepiece ever to leave the Richard Mille workshops,” the brand says.
“This model fully embodies the brand’s technical approach thanks to the combination of several additional functions, a very specific architecture and an extremely high-end aesthetic.
It doesn’t come cheap, of course, and is valued at 500,000 euros.
Lewandowski wears a cheaper watch after having one stolen
By contrast, Lewandowski‘s had a much cheaper watch on his wrist on Monday, with it identified as s a Casio watch that was valued at 60 euros.
The Polish player previously had a Patek Philippe watch worth 70,000 euros, but it was stolen in a high-profile incident at the entrance to Barcelona’s sporting complex earlier in the season.
