Erling Haaland is undoubtedly the best player in English football at the moment. The Norwegian striker was picked to start in today’s derby against Manchester United by Pep Guardiola and with more than 20 minutes remaining to the end of the game, he has already got his hattrick.
He had scored hattricks in Manchester City’s last two home league games and ahead of today’s match, he was on course to set the record for the most consecutive hattricks scored at home in the Premier League. And he did it against Manchester United in a highly anticipated Manchester derby.
Pep Guardiola will be happy that his striker has hit the ground running for Manchester City in the league this season. Last season, Manchester City had no recognised striker but right now, they have one to lead their line and score goals. Haaland’s 3 goals today takes his overall league goal tally to 14 in just 9 games. An impressive feat.
