Following the withdrawal of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde, ex-Information Minister, Prof. Jerry Gana, and other prominent party chieftains from the party’s presidential campaign council, The People’s Democratic Party has finalized plans to inaugurate its presidential campaign council on Wednesday, September 28, regardless of the withdrawal.
According to The Punch, Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the party disclosed this on Thursday to The PUNCH in Abuja. He said all party programs would be carried out as scheduled, adding that the party had no plan to suspend Governor Wike and his group for any reason. He further explained that the constitution of our party is supreme and the conduct of our affairs must align with it. Again, we are a party with tremendous respect for the law. So, all we have set out to do will take place as there is no reason whatsoever to do otherwise.
Meanwhile, as reported earlier, as the 2023 general elections draw near and with less than eight months to the end of the tenure of the Buhari-led APC Government, the rift within the main opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is getting worse every day as the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has summoned a meeting of leaders and stakeholders of the party in the state.
