Babajide Otitoju Reacts After ASUU Said They Are ‘Ready’ To Call Off The Strike After Meeting Buhari

An award winning Nigerian investigative journalist; Babajide Kolade Otitoju (BKO) of TVC News, reacted recently after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) said they are ‘ready’ to call off the looming strike after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Babajide Kolade Otitoju said, “ASUU will only be ready to call off the strike if a concrete agreement is reached with federal government. Without that, I do not think they will call off the over six months strike.”

The ace journalist continued, “President Muhammadu Buhari just met with the pro chancellors. He should organize another meeting with the vice chancellors themselves because they have already set up good ideas. What is left is for the federal government (FG) to implement the ideas.”

Furthermore, Babajide Kolade Otitoju said, “the federal government should stop the blame game. They should also learn not to agree or sign what they cannot implement. The federal government should observe the report of visitation panels before coming to a conclusion.”

Suggesting the solution to averting future strike, Babajide Kolade Otitoju said, “I think the federal government needs to do more by spending largely on the country’s education sector.”
