Meet The Three Most Expensive Football Coaches In The World

Before a coach (who is still under contract) can be allowed to move from one club to another, the new club has to pay a certain fee to the club releasing him. There are only three coaches whose transfers cost more than fifteen million Euros. Who are these tacticians?

The man on top of the list is Potter who was employed by Chelsea on September 8, 2022. When this Englishman took up the managerial job at Brighton, he did not know that fate was about to put him in record books. Soon after the sack of German manager, Thomas Tuchel by Chelsea, Potter was contacted. After agreeing terms with the London club, a sum of twenty three million Euros was paid to Brighton. This makes the 2016/17 Swedish cup winner the most expensive coach in the world. Interestingly, with a squad valued below 242 million Euros, he has taken Brighton to the top four – above Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool that are respectively valued above €750.3m. With his new contract, Potter is expected to use his skills to return the 2022 Club World Cup winners to winning ways.

The next manager on this list is Julian Nagelsmann, German tactician. Bayern Munich paid twenty million Euros to snatch him from RB Leipzig on July 1, 2021. Since this move, Nagelsmann has helped the Bavarians to average 2.27 points per match. He has also won one Bundesliga title and two German Super Cups.

José Mourinho is third on this list. Real Madrid paid sixteen million Euros to secure his services from Inter Milan in 2010. This Portuguese manager spent 1095 days at the helms of affair of Los Blancos. Within the period, he won 127 out of 178 matches played (draw 28, lost 23). He won at least one trophy in each of his three seasons at the Spanish outfit (Copa del Rey, La Liga, Spanish Super Cup respectively).
