Afrobeats recording and naturally talented songstress, Temilade Openiyi, known within the showbiz circles as Tems lost to Nicki Minaj at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

The raving Nigerian singer and songwriter has had an amazing run this year, having won two awards at the 2022 BET Awards and also received nominations at the Billboard Music Awards and MTV VMAs.

The prestigious video award show where excellence was celebrated took place at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center. MTV Video Music Awards honors the best music videos of the year and 2022 was no exception.

Tems bagged a nomination in the Best Hip Hop award category for her contribution to Future’s song “Wait For U”. However, the category was lost to rapper, Nicki Minaj who won with her song “Do We Have A Problem?”

The 2022 MTV VMA was hosted by American stars LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow and featured an incredible night of music, fashion, and glamour.
