PSG 1-1 MON: Lionel Messi Is Gradually Losing His Relevance At PSG After Their Draw With AS Monaco

French Ligue 1 defending Champions, Paris Saint-Germain welcomed AS Monaco at Parc Des Princes yesterday and failed to secure their fourth league win. Despite having Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr in the starting XI against the visiting team, PSG went down to 1-0 with just 20 minutes played in the first half.

In the 45th minute, Kylian Mbappe provided the worst miss so far in Europe’s top five leagues after failing to convert a pass to a goal from 6 yards. The game ended in a 1-1 draw all thanks to Neymar’s penalty goal in the second half.

Paris Saint-Germain’s manager did one of the most bizarre substitutions in the 87th minute. Galtier substituted former Barcelona star player, Lionel Messi while his team was looking for a winning goal. A player like Messi is meant to lead the attack when their team is losing but Galtier did the reverse by substituting him.

Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, Galtier’s decision to substitute the seven times world best players of the year and leave Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr on the pitch suggests that Lionel Messi is gradually losing his relevance in the team.

It is quite unfortunate to see the Argentine captain go off the pitch while the scoreline between Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco remained 1-1. Since becoming Barcelona’s captain, Lionel Messi has never received such treatment as a forward.

The decision made by Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach indicates that Lionel Messi is already losing his ground as a star player on the team.
