Festus Keyamo, the Nigerian Minister of State for Labour and Employment has revealed that the administration of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has no resources and intention to end the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment advised Nigerian parents to plead with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end the ongoing strike and return to the classroom.

I will tell parents and everybody; to go and beg the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off their industrial action, Festus Keyamo said, adding that ASUU’s demand amounted to blackmail and that schools will not be opened at the expense of other economic sectors in Nigeria according to Peoples Gazette.

The proposal made by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is overwhelming. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is requesting 1.2 Trillion Naira, meanwhile even the former 412 billion that was being paid before was 50 percent of the total wage structure of the Nigerian Federal Government, Festus Keyamo revealed.
