Meet West Africa’s Biggest Hospital By Area Size Located In Ghana.

The University of Ghana Medical Centre is West Africa’s biggest hospital by area size.

The University of Ghana Medical Centre sits on a 400 acre land behind Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research. It was built at a whooping cost of $217 million. The ultra – modern medical facility offers service delivery, training and research. It is also well equipped with state – of – the – art facilities for trauma and emergency services with a heliport and internal medicine, including surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, cardiology, heart surgery and medicinal imaging.

The facility currently boast of a 650 bed capacity and an additional on – going Phase 2 project at the medical facility will add 350 beds to augment the total number of beds to 1000. This facility will go a long way in catering for the needs of the people as well as creating an avenue for revenue generation for further developmental projects in the economy.
