Joshua Kimmich: Mane will not score 40 to 50 goals like Lewandowski

FC Bayern Munich top midfielder Joshua Kimmich has revealed that he does not think Sadio Mane will outscore his former teammate Robert Lewandowski in terms of total goals scored.

According to the 27-year-old German international, the former Liverpool player is good but might not match the goals the Poland striker scored. Mane was recently purchased by the Bavarians from Liverpool, but Lewandowski chose to depart for La Liga’s top team, Barcelona.

In a pre-season match on Thursday morning, Mane scored and assisted as the Bundesliga champions thrashed DC United 6-2. According to the German expert, the Lion of Teranga, however, cannot match the performance of the Poland international, “With Lewy [Lewandowski’s departure] we lost a lot of goals, we have to catch that collectively,” Kimmich said after the win over DC United.

“Of course, Sadio is a great player, but I don’t think he will score 40 or 50 goals, he brings other qualities with him. Joshua Kimmich added that Sadio Mane is good in training but he doesn’t want to praise him too much until he starts playing games for them.

According to him, the Senegal captain is hungry as he wants to win titles with the German Bundesliga champions. He also revealed that Sadio Mane is a relatively calm, open, and easygoing guy. Joshua Kimmich then concluded by saying that Mane always has something to say during a conversation with him and he fits in well into the German team.

Also, the 27-year-old reacted to the addition of former Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt to their team this week. He said that the Netherlands defender was already captain of Ajax when he was 19 because he can lead, direct, and organize.

According to him, Matthijs de Ligt will score one or two goals for the club next season and it is important now that Robert Lewandowski is no longer with them.

He added that the 50 goals a season will have to come from somewhere else after the departure of their hitman.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has revealed that the club is not interested in signing Man United star player Cristiano Ronaldo.

Oliver Kahn stated that he respects the five times Ballon d’Or winner but he doesn’t fit into their philosophy. Hence, Bayern Munich are among the top European clubs that rejected the opportunity of signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer after the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Atletico Madrid.
