Barcelona Boss Xavi Ruthlessly Tells 4 Players to Skip Training to Find New Clubs

Four Barcelona stars have their future in limbo after Xavi reportedly told them to find new clubs instead of resuming training ahead of the new season.

The Catalan club is still trying to find its feet as far as finances is concerned, and there are some players who are considered surplus to requirements at the moment. Barca oversaw the sale of several key players over the past 12 months, but reports from the Mirror suggest the financial situation is still worrying.

With the new season only five weeks away, Xavi seems to have made some decisive decisions concerning the future of some stars. The four players who could leave the club after Xavi’s ultimatum include academy stars Oscar Mingueza and Riqui Puig, defender Samuel Umtiti and forward Martin Braithwaite. According to Mundo Deportivo, Puig and Mingueza are reportedly not in Xavi’s plans for the new season, and both their contracts run out at the end of the coming season.

For Umtiti, he has fallen out of favor at Barcelona following a series of successive injuries that has kept him out of action for majority of the time. Surprisingly, the Frenchman, who joined Barca from Lyon in 2016, only penned a new deal in January which saw him take a considerable pay cut. At the moment, it is yet to be seen whether the four players will find new clubs by the time the summer transfer window closes.

Barcelona are gearing up for a pre-season tour in the United States where they will take on Inter Miami, Real Madrid, Juventus and New York Red Bulls.
