Wike Declares For 2023 Presidency, Blast Atiku, Saraki, Others Who Had Left The PDP

The energetic Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has lambasted the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and other founding fathers of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) who defected to other parties before the 2015 presidential election. According to Wike, those who left the PDP before the 2015 presidential election were responsible for the loss of the Presidency to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Wike made the statement during his declaration for the 2023 Presidential election in Benue state on Sunday while speaking to stakeholders of the Benue state chapter of the PDP. Wike said he has the capacity to remove APC from power in 2023 which is why he was declaring to run for President.

He emphasized his loyalty to the PDP and pointed out that since he entered the PDP in 1998 he has not left the party. He took a swipe at PDP bigwigs that left the party in 2015 and are now back to the part to contest for the 2023 presidency. Although Wike did not mention the names of the former Vice President, Atiku and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, it was, however, obvious that Atiku and Saraki were among those he was referring to, because both of them were among those that left the PDP and joined the APC ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

Both Atiku and Saraki have since returned to the PDP and have even declared to run for the 2023 Presidency under the party. According to Wike those founding fathers that left the PDP are no longer founding fathers because they have sold their share

“By the time you ran away, you sold your share as a founding father so you can no longer retain your position of founding fathers,” Wike said

Wike also solicited the votes of PDP members from Benue State in the coming national delegates convention of the party. Wike further stresses that he has performed as the Governor of Rivers State and therefore has what it takes to remove this “evil government”. Wike said he will continue to speak the truth till he becomes the President of Nigeria
