Match Analysis: West Ham Dumps Sevilla Out Of The Europa League After 120 Minutes Of Play.

Sevilla of Spain travelled to London in England for the second leg of their Europa League tie haven won the first leg at Seville with a line goal.

Heading into the game, West Ham United knew that it is going to be a tough match for them because they were trailing Sevilla by a lone goal.

 

Sevilla, on the other hand, knew that they just have to avoid a defeat if they are to make it to the next round of the competition though they knew it will be tough for them since they are not playing on home soil.

However, West Ham United had the confidence before that since they are playing on home soil, the crowd being with them and being more familiar with the pitch will come out of the match with a win and qualify.

 

So, the visiting team being Sevilla under the guidance of their coach Julen Lopetegui started the match with the following players; Bono, Navas, Kounde, Gudelj, Augustinsson, Delaney, Jordan, Ivan Rakitic, Tecatito, Anthony Martial, and En-Nesyri.

 

 

Meanwhile, the home team being West Ham United under the guidance of Coach David Moyes started the match with the following players; Areola, Johnson, Kuyt Zouma, Dawson, Cresswell, Declan Rice, Thomas Soucek, Fornals, Benrahma, Manuel Lanzini, and Michail Antonio.

 

 

So, the match started and it wasn’t until the 12th minute of the match that a big chance came when Pablo Fornals smashed a shot in the 18-yard box but it was blocked by a defender.

Another big chance came in the 27th minute through Youssef En-Nesyri but Areola saved his shot, he got to the rebound but his shot went to the outside net.

Another big chance came in the 29th minute through Michail Antonio but his shot was saved by Bono, corner kick.

It was then in the 39th minute that West Ham had the first laugh when Michail Antonio dazzled into Sevilla’s box to cross the ball which Thomas Soucek careful headed into the back of the net, 1 – 0.

 

The first half of the match ended in a 1 – 0 scoreboard.

 

 

 

 

The second half of the match started and West Ham United kept asking all the questions but the goals were not forthcoming.

On the 55th minute, En-Nesyri had a golden opportunity to score but did not.

The best chance came in the 62nd minute through Lanzini in the box but his shot was saved.

In the 63rd minute, Manuel Lanzini’s wonderful shot was saved.

West Ham United kept pushing on and asking the right questions but they seemed to be unlucky.

Normal 90 minutes of the match ended 1 – 0 and 1 – 1 on aggregate.

 

From the start of the first half of the extra time, West Ham United kept attacking Sevilla from left and right but yet, no goals. They kept on asking the right questions but to no avail.

On the 99th minute, Thomas Soucek almost scored but his header went narrowly off the left post.

It was still 1 – 0 at the end of the first half of the extra time.

The second half of the extra time started and In the 112th minute, Andriy Yarmolenko scored for West Ham United, 2 – 0.

The match ended 2 – 0 which means that Sevilla is out and West Ham United has qualified for the next round, what a match that was!.
