A message reportedly from Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), concerning the time when Tinubu was the Governor of Lagos State, has been trending on social media after being shared online by Joe Igbokwe.
Joe Igbokwe, the special adviser to the Lagos State Government on drainage and water resources, posted a message allegedly from Nuhu Ribadu on his Facebook post where the former EFCC Chairman stated that when he was in office, they investigated almost all the governors at that time, which was done in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, and British authorities.
He noted that the Lagos State government was part of those under investigation back then because Lagos was important. Unfortunately, they found nothing incriminating and this was why there was no case to take to court in respect of Lagos State.
It will be recalled that Nuhu Ribadu chaired the EFCC between 2003 and 2007, and the governor of Lagos State during that period was Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, who governed the state between 1999 and 2007. This statement directly means that the Tinubu government was investigated by Nuhu Ribadu and nothing incriminating was found about his government despite being in the then opposition party, Action Congress.
It is worthy to note that when Nuhu Ribadu was the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, many politicians were arrested for corrupt practices and made to face the law.
However, some people have always believed that Ahmed Tinubu is corrupt, but if these allegations against the APC leader are true, why did the EFCC fail to drag him to court even when he was in an opposition party?
