“We Took The Best Players Ghana Has To AFCON”

Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, has safeguarded the nature of the Black Stars crew that was kicked out from the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Ghana were wiped out from the group stages of this year’s AFCON tournament without a win and their last game was a humiliating 3-2 loss to Comoros.

There has been a few discussion over the nature of players chose to represent Ghana, with most of football fans accepting that there were better options in Ghana that the coach could have selected.

Citi Sports sources close to the Black Stars team reportedly revealed that some of the squad’s senior members were unhappy by the “substandard” quality of several players called up.

The GFA president Okraku, who has previously admitted to being involved in the selection process for the Black Stars squad, insists that the 28-man squad sent to Cameroon is the best in the country at the moment.

“The players we brought to the AFCON are the best we have,” he told Asempa FM in Accra.

“The Kamaldeens, Fatawus, and others are our best players.

“We must exercise patience and faith in the process. “Calm heads are required during this trying time,” he added.

Ghana’s poor performance in the AFCON is the first in Ghana’s history as they exited the tournament with just one point from three games.
