EPL: Chelsea’s defeat not important to us – Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has reacted to Chelsea’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.

The German says the defeat suffered by Thomas Tuchel’s side is ‘not important to the Reds.

Liverpool had to wait until the last minutes before securing a 1-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were on course for a stalemate before second-half substitute, Divock Origi popped up in injury time to secure a 1-0 victory.

Chelsea had during the launch time kick off squandered a lead on two occasions as they fell 3-2 to David Moyes’ stubborn West Ham side in the west London derby.

Liverpool have now leapfrogged the Blues with a point in the Premier League title race while Manchester City climbed to the top after a 3-1 win against Watford but Klopp is adamant that he is not paying close attention to the table.

When asked about the significance of the result following Chelsea’s defeat, the German told Sky Sports, “Yeah, but honestly other results are really not important.

“I don’t even know exactly how many points we have. We just have to win football games.

“Three days ago, we played the derby and it’s easy to focus on the derby, obviously, because it’s the game of the year.

“And then you have this little drop, you need to in a recovery period where you switch off and don’t think about football for the next 72 hours. Then you start the machine again.”

Klopp also said that Liverpool win against Wolves is the type that could secure the Premier League title for the Reds, “If you do it 38 times, yes, absolutely. If you do it once, no.”
