Former Liverpool and England left-back, Stephen Warnock, has said that Manchester United caretaker boss, Michael Carrick, decided to bench Cristiano Ronaldo in his side’s XI against Chelsea on Sunday evening because the Portugal captain would not press during the clash.
Warnock believes Carrick made the ‘right call’ not to start Ronaldo, who scored a goal in Man United’s Champions League 2-0 win over Villarreal a few days ago.
Carrick, who is serving Man United on a caretaker basis pending the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, decided to bench Ronaldo for the Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday.
