On Thursday, October 14, police in Enugu state arrested a 60-year-old man literally named as Ikechukwu for allegedly killing his son in Ogbozinne-Ndiagu Akpugo community, in the state’s Nkanu West Local Government Area.

On Thursday, the father of four allegedly killed his son after the 32-year-old allegedly threatened to kill him over unspecified issues.

According to reports, Ikechukwu made a distress call to his village’s chairman on Wednesday night, claiming that his son had threatened to murder him during a violent fight. The community chief security officer CSO and his crew were immediately notified by the village chairman to help solve the situation.

While the CSO and his team were still attempting to reconcile the bickering father and son, Ikechukwu allegedly sliced his son’s back with an axe, according to eyewitnesses. His son passed away the next morning. His attempt to bury his son was thwarted by his neighbors, who quickly alerted the authorities.

Three suspects have been nabbed in connection with the incident according to Daniel Ndukwe, the spokesperson of the State Police command.

“Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case of alleged conspiracy and murder. Investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Enugu State.

The father of the deceased, the chairman of the community and the CSO are helping the police in their investigation”Ndukwe said

 

The man is likely to serve more than 15 years in prison.
