On Tuesday, August 31, a Federal High Court in Lagos ruled that the Kogi state’s pay bailout account at Sterling Bank Plc be frozen due to a N20 billion loan acquired from the bank.
In an ex-parte motion filed under section 44 (2) of the Constitution and section 34(1) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Act, the EFCC sought an order from the court.

The EFCC’s counsel, Abass Muhammed, told the court that the order was essential to keep the “res” and prevent further dissipation of the funds in the account, noting that the 20 billion loan meant to supplement the State Government’s salary payment and operating costs was kept in an interest-bearing account with Sterling bank.

In response to the news, FFK said those spreading the “slanderous falsehood” against his friend and brother are “agents of satan from the pit of hell,” in a post shared on his Instagram page this afternoon.

His post reads

”I have faith and confidence in my friend and brother Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state. He NEVER paid 20 billion of public funds in a fixed deposit account.

Those that are peddling these specious lies and slanderous falsehood are agents of satan from the pit of hell. Their attempt to discredit and destroy him has FAILED!

Those that believe that Yahaya would fix 20 billion Naira of public funds in a fixed deposit account do not know him.

He is a man of profound decency and integrity. I am sorry for those that are peddling this falsehood. I advise them to try something else: this one has failed woefully!”
