The Best Universities in Nigeria According To Latest Worldwide Rankings

The Global rankings for universities worldwide has just been published. The world authority in tertiary education ranking THE (Times Higher Education) just released their rankings of the top universities in the world, including Africa and Nigeria.

The African ranking for top universities saw tertiary institutions from South Africa dominating the continent’s Ranking. It comes as no surprise for South Africa schools dominating other African schools as they have been perennial winners of the best school in Africa. This time all top 3 institutions from Africa were from South Africa with University of Cape Town, University of Pretoria and University of Witwatersrand all taking the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. University of Cape Town wins the coveted position as the top University in Africa.

The Times Higher Education 2021 Impact Rankings sees the Best Universites in Nigeria topped by Covenant University. Followed by University of Ibadan (UI), University of Lagos (UNILAG) and Edo State University, Uzairue.

One tertiary institution amongst the Nigerian list who would be very happy and proud to have featured in that list would be the Edo State University, Uzairue. This recognition has proven to be a meteoric rise for the Edo State University, given the fact that this university is the youngest amongst the Nigerian Universities who made the THE list. This University was only just established in 2016 by the Edo State Government and has already been in the top 5 Nigerian universities in such a short time. It’s truly a marvel how the school managed to achieve such feat.

Another young tertiary institution who continues to do well for itself is the Covenant University— Nigeria’s number #1 university. The university was established in 2002 and has been doing well for itself in the last decade. The university has been topping the best university in Nigeria for the last 4 years in both the THE worldwide university rankings and Nigeria’s NUC (National Universities Commission).
