Meet Xavi Simons – Teenager with 3m followers and Nike deal who just made PSG debut

Xavi Simons is not like most 17-year-old boys.

This teenager plays football everyday with Neymarand Kylian Mbappe, has a deal with Nike, and has amassed more than 3m followers on Instagram by posting pictures alongside world famous stars and playing for world famous clubs.

Plenty of fuss is being made about Dutch youngster Simons, who made his senior debut on Wednesday night for PSG in a 1–0 Coupe de France win over Caen.

Simons isn’t the youngest player to ever play for PSG, that honour belongs to now-Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman, who all to ironically scored the goal that beat the Ligue 1 giants in last years Champions League final.

But there’s no doubting that he’s one of the most exciting prospects to come out of the PSG academy in recent years, with many tipping the central midfielder for future greatness.

Football runs in Simons’ blood – his father is Regillio, a former striker who spent his career in his native Holland.

Simons’ childhood wasn’t exactly normal either, growing up in Spain, he quickly moved from his local club to Barcelona’s academy, where the Holland youth international spent nine years before joining PSG.

But Simons’ career is just beginning, and it took a huge step this week when he replaced Leandro Paredes in a cup game.

This is sure to be the first of many times we see Simons in action, having been included in plenty of lists of the next biggest wonderkids.


And the youngster is definitely targeting more success on a personal level and for the club, having revealed his delight at making his debut on Wednesday.

“This was a very special moment for me”, he told PSG TV.

“I hope that I can play more often in the near future and more moments like this will follow. I am very happy and emotional.

“The team played well and we are happy to be in the next round of the cup tournament.”
