Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has been fined for his tribute to the late Diego Maradona.

The Argentine great was fined by the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee, who also fined Barcelona for the same offence.

Messi paid tribute to Maradona, who died on 25 November, during Barcelona’s 4-0 over Osasuna, four days later.

Messi pulled off his Barcelona shirt after scoring to reveal a Newell’s jersey with Maradona’s number 10 on the back.

But Messi will have to pay €600, while the club pays €180.
